Anacoco High School is a small rural junior high and high school nestled in the center of Vernon Parish, Louisiana. With a longstanding legacy of excellent student performance, the staff of AHS is determined to empower each and every child with the academic skills and character building experiences to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Rigorous curriculum, highly qualified teaching, career-based instruction, ongoing intervention, highly recognized athletic programs, numerous extracurricular opportunities, and strong support of the community constantly address the needs of the whole child. The school's two-hour math and ELA blocks, targeted ACT preparation, emphasis on Industry Based Certifications and WorkKeys credentials, CLEP opportunities, and technology enriched instruction all consistently contribute to student achievement toward college and career readiness. The most significant factor that supports the overall success of school and student performance is dedicated and superior quality instruction. The total teaching experience of AHS teachers in 2016 totaled 583.5 years (an average of 21.61 years) and the paraprofessionals' experience totaled 58 years (an average of 19.33 years). Teachers clearly communicate the academic expectations for their students and hold themselves to the same standards. The AHS faculty provides every child with a rigorous and relevant education that instills the necessary skills to become well-rounded, productive citizens.
