NBRS Badge for The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology [GSMST]
The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology [GSMST] - Lawrenceville, GA
GSMST students excel in all forms of STEM education.
The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology [GSMST] opened in 2007 by accepting every rising freshman that decided to apply for a newly created, themed high school in Gwinnett County Public Schools whose purpose was to deliver an integrated and accelerated STEM curriculum. 111 students from that initial enrolling cohort graduated in 2011 after spending their senior year in a brand new, cutting edge, STEM facility outfitted with the instructional technologies and learning spaces that support the targeted work of the best high school in Georgia. GSMST students complete a minimum of 26 Carnegie Credits and five required AP courses while spending four years working through a vertically connected internship program that culminates in a year-long Senior Capstone Experience. Each subsequent enrolling class has worked through an incredibly demanding STEM curriculum and has consistently been at the top of every quality measure for schools in Georgia including SAT, ACT, OECD, College and Career Readiness Indicators, Climate Survey Results, and a variety of national rankings. As GSMST begins to celebrate its ten year anniversary, the faculty, staff, students, and supporting community partners can celebrate the accomplishments of a school that holds a random lottery each year for enrollment while having won the most recent state championships in VEX Robotics, Mathematics, and the Adam Smith Economics Challenge. GSMST prepares students for graduate schools and careers and with 875 total alumni, including those working at Google and Apple, in the State Department, and as orchestra teachers, our mission has just begun.
