Students enjoying time reading in the library.

Platteville is located in southwest Wisconsin and is home of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Being a university town provides the school district and the students great partnership opportunities.

Platteville Middle School is a school that “Puts the Kids First,” and this is not just an expectation, but part of the mission of this school since its formation. Our purpose is to make a center of learning that focuses on the kids, their families, and the community which supports our beliefs and values. Historically our school has focused on the fact that our population is not elementary, it is not high school, but serves the child in the middle. Our students are unique, and our goal is to serve this transcendent student: the student who is living through a period of change that is challenging and unlike any other time in his/her life. No matter what each child’s background is, whether it be a child with special needs, a homeless child, a child who is neglected or abused, or a gifted child, he/she will come into our school and be greeted by a staff that will do anything within our abilities to responsibly meet each academic, social, and emotional concern. Our goal is to ensure the child’s right to learn, and provide a staff that works each day to make that happen. Each individual and extraordinary student that walks through our doors will become a part of the Platteville Middle School family.
