F.J. Scott Elementary School - Roma, TX

Why be AVERAGE when you can Be AMAZING?

"Why be AVERAGE when you can Be AMAZING?"

F.J. Scott Elementary is located in Roma, Texas, a small city located right along the Texas-Mexico border. F. J. Scott is a Title I campus with an enrollment of 609 students in grades prekindergarten to five.

Various factors contribute to high levels of academic success on this campus. Greatly significant is the transformation of the campus culture. A cohesive effort of “High Expectations, No Excuses,” is embraced by all. This campus fuses together to work as one family, embarking on a journey: "One Team, One Goal - Student Achievement.”

Motivational activities take place throughout the year. In accordance to campus tradition, a theme is selected to initiate each year to help set the campus tone - "Why be Average when You can be Amazing?" The Reading Kick-Off, for example, stimulates student learning, inspires a love for reading, promotes growth in literacy and critical thinking skills, and encourages parental involvement.

Weekly PLC Sessions positively impact student learning and team building. Innovative teaching practices that stimulate student engagement are nonnegotiable. All students are exposed to inquiry-based, hands-on, and collaborative learning experiences that allow for independent thinking and team problem solving. A structured RTI program ensures the success of ALL learners. Computer/science Labs, book clubs, drama club, and Knights TV also support student learning. Character/leadership building activities include F.J. Scott Cares, Diabetes Walk, and Jump Rope for Heart. Developing, responsible, empathetic problem-solvers prepared to lead the 21st century is the ultimate goal.

The F.J. Scott Family "Makes the Ordinary, Extraordinary" because "Teamwork, Works!"
