Two basic principles underpin the philosophy of All City Elementary: parents are actively involved in their children’s education, and the classroom is an extension of the community and the world at large. Parents of children who attend All City must commit to volunteering four hours every week for each child who attends the school. Parents also commit to additional activities that benefit the school, including a monthly “Choice Day,” where parents use their personal skills and connections in the community to plan for activities that enrich student learning.

Relationships are an important part of All City. Along with grade level groups, students also form groups called FAMILY that consists of students from every grade level. This connection between students of all ages has strengthened our school community. Because parents are in our building every week, they also develop strong relationships with our students and with each other. These relationships continue far beyond their years at All City, offering students continued support in their education.

Unique opportunities for learning, along with parental support in the classroom, contribute to All City’s strong test scores. An alternate school schedule provides for weekly teacher collaboration, allowing teachers to focus on student learning. While there is no academic requirement for entrance into our school, students continue to score in the top 8% of our district. As the longest running specialty school in the Sioux Falls School District, we believe All City is a great choice for developing the whole child.
