P.S. 682, The Academy of Talented Scholars (TAOTS) is a unique school, based on our founding principal’s vision, located in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Educating 355 students from Kindergarten through grade 5, our student body comprises 5% English language learners and 21% special education students, of whom 60% are classified with autism. TAOTS has the privilege of being selected as a New York City Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Nest school since 2010 and the honor of being selected as the only Intensive Kindergarten class in Brooklyn, a precursor to our ASD Nest Kindergarten. P.S.682’s educational philosophy centers on nurturing the whole child academically, behaviorally and socially while instilling a passion for lifelong learning and developing personal talents. TAOTS provides a creative learning environment that fosters respect, confidence and critical thinking skills through Inquiry and Project-based learning in our Enrichment Clusters, our most unique feature, while still maintaining high standards with a rigorous curriculum aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards. The collaborative efforts of a highly qualified and dedicated staff strive for all of our students to meet and exceed academic standards, along with strong partnerships between our parents and community. In addition, TAOTS has strong partnerships with many outstanding arts programs such as Theater and Dancing Academy, Dancing Classrooms, Town Hall and Reach the World to cultivate a well-rounded child.
