Lake Shore Elementary is a small school nestled between the Magothy River and the Chesapeake Bay. Lake Shore shines in its devotion to empower and challenge young minds by cultivating creativity, and engaging in meaningful, rigorous learning. To achieve these objectives, Lake Shore teachers regularly engage in collaborative planning to refine and improve their craft. They use cutting edge strategies, like arts integration, to reach all learning modalities and highlight individual strengths for students. Teacher designed STEAM lessons illustrate the connection between academic learning and real world problem solving, which provides students with highly motivating challenges that foster the perseverance necessary to become successful innovators. While incorporating technology and modern resources, these lessons also encourage collaboration and cooperation among peers. By engaging in these learning scenarios, students are provided with the opportunity to develop and practice social and leadership skills which play an essential role in shaping success in the academic, economic, and civic arenas. The staff works hard to develop strong partnerships with students and their families in order to develop the child as a whole, focusing not only on academic but emotional needs as well.
