Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School - Macon, GA

Alexander II, the first math and science elementary magnet school in the state of Georgia, is located in the heart of Macon’s historic district near Mercer University. Opened in 1902, Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School which serves 525 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through five is one of the oldest schools operating today.
For many years, academic excellence has been our focus. We utilize a curriculum that is rich in math, science, and technology. Our students are immersed in hands-on problem based activities in math and science. Math and science specialists conduct labs with students in kindergarten through fifth grade weekly. In addition, our nature center and annual environmental education trips bring lessons to life.

We recognize the importance of providing students with extracurricular opportunities to create well-rounded individuals. Teacher-led extra-curricular activities, such as Math Team, Math 24, Green Team, Jump Rope Team, Robotics Teams, STEM Club, Student Council, Tree Club and various Music Ensembles, and News Team provide students opportunities for expanded learning, character building, and team building.

We believe parent involvement increases student success. We work to create a vibrant community within our walls that is welcoming to parents and community members. We have been fortunate to have parents who are willing to volunteer their time and energy to support our programs and activities.
