As part of the Duval County Public Schools district in Florida, Jacksonville Beach Elementary (JBE) is the only dedicated magnet school for gifted and academically talented students in the greater Jacksonville area serving students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. School administrators and faculty/staff members are committed to meeting the needs of all students by providing an enriching and challenging education; teaching children to seek, explore, discover, and develop their minds to the fullest potential; and providing them with the skills necessary to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners. In addition to receiving instruction in core academic subjects, gifted students receive a specialized curriculum with focus on the following "gifted strands": Social Processes, Critical Appreciation, Research Methods, Creative Expression, and Scientific Approach. With an emphasis on the "whole child", students at JBE participate in enrichment activities above and beyond normal school offerings to expand their repertoire of skills, including the following: enrichment labs (i.e. musical fitness classes, photography, arts integration), leadership clubs (i.e. Safety Patrol, Teachers of Tomorrow, TV Production, Student Council), and after-school programs (i.e. Chorus, First Lego League Robotics Club, Basic Spanish Instruction). Extended learning opportunities provided at Jacksonville Beach ensure a solid foundation and an outstanding rate of success in advanced placement classes in middle and high school. JBE is proud to have consistently achieved an “A” school since the 1999-2000 school year. JBE is currently ranked first among all Duval County Public Elementary Schools and sixth of all schools in Florida based on student achievement scores.
