Bowley Elementary School - Fort Bragg, NC, DD

Located on the Fort Bragg Military Installation in North Carolina, Bowley Elementary school serves pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students of active duty military and Department of Defense civilians. Bowley ES provides educational learning experiences that encourage and promote life-long learning, including a focus on College and Career Ready Standards and Science/Technology/Engineering/Math (STEM) instruction. This directly supports our school’s mission, “To prepare students for a global society through a challenging and technologically enhanced curriculum.”

Stakeholders work collaboratively to ensure a positive school culture thrives at Bowley ES. Students often experience long term separations due to multiple deployments of their active duty family member and the school community becomes the extended family for these students. The PTA, Military Partners and school community provide additional support for enrichment opportunities, reading interventions and after school tutoring programs. Bowley ES is a collaborative, warm and inviting learning community, which was recognized when the school was named a “National PTA School of Excellence” in 2014.

Bowley ES staff members understand the importance of real world connections to everyday learning. Student engagement improves when learning relates to life beyond the school building and when the learning is tailored to meet the needs of each student. Data conversations and math conferences are the foundations of success for Bowley ES. Through these combined interactions, student learning is personalized and each student is ready for success at the next level.
