KIPP Raíces Academy is a free, open enrollment, college-preparatory public charter school in East Los Angeles. We serve 545 students in kindergarten through 4th grade. Ninety-one percent of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch, 98% are Latino, 1% are African-American, and 1% are white.

KIPP Raíces Academy is part of KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, a national network of college-preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities with a proven track record of success. Our school is driven by the core operating principles shared by all KIPP schools: high expectations, choice and commitment, power to lead, more time, and focus on results. Our school culture is driven by our school values of love, honor, integrity, and excellence.

Our rigorous instructional program nurtures well-rounded critical thinkers who love learning and prepares students to master the California and Common Core standards through engaging in authentic learning experiences. We foster the positive development of the whole child with the support and investment of our students’ families. Art, music, Spanish, physical education, creative play, balanced literacy, character development, and good nutrition are all critical components of a KIPP Raíces education. Our students are strong readers and mathematicians, but beyond that they are artists, scientists, musicians, authors, athletes, and agents of change who work to both honor and positively impact their many and varied communities. Our team is committed to realizing our mission and ensuring our students are on the path to and through college by focusing on excellence from the beginning of their educational journeys.
