Students seek understanding of plants in a high tunnel garden.

Learning is exciting at Kaleidoscope School of Arts and Science. Wide-eyed wonder is the payoff for the hard work it takes to deliver carefully orchestrated and integrated teaching that infuses learning with the glory of the arts and the thrilling knowledge of science. Children are treated to the joys of learning from the moment they begin their transformational, educational experience at our school. Our children thrive because we have created an environment that allows for movement and hands-on experiential opportunities to address diverse learning styles and multi-sensory strengths in a safe, aesthetically pleasing personalized environment. We also extend our learning through “Being There” experiences, in the wider community, by accessing the diverse ecosystems Alaska has to offer. Partnerships and collaborative practice with parents, families, community members, staff and fellow students are relied upon for all to be successful in our positive multi-age setting. Children are naturally curious learners, each with different strengths, needs, interests, and talents. Kaleidoscope uses the arts and science as lenses to help our diverse population explore and understand their world. Because children have multiple occasions to inquire, dialogue, and reflect interchangeably, children naturally connect every discipline to develop a meaningful understanding of their world. Kaleidoscope engages the whole child to nurture creativity, critical thinking, deeper understandings, intellectual habits of mind, and ultimately, to become life-long learners. Real-world problem solving and the pure joy of learning lie at the heart of Kaleidoscope’s approach. At Kaleidoscope School of Arts and Science everything offers a lesson, for there is always more to learn.
